The Plot

Set in the near future, Sheep in the Box follows Otone and Kensuke, a married couple struggling with the death of their young son, Kakeru. Their quiet life changes when a technology company offers them a humanoid made to look and sound exactly like the child they lost.

The couple welcomes the artificial Kakeru into their home, hoping his presence might ease their pain. At first, familiar expressions, voices, and everyday habits bring comfort. However, living with a machine shaped by personal memories soon creates difficult questions. Can a copy truly replace someone? Is the new Kakeru becoming his own person, or is he only repeating the past?
